While you place shifts it shows labour cost and labour % of forecast per day, and checks each shift against BC Employment Standards defaults: daily and weekly overtime, 8 hours off between shifts, 32 hours off in a row each week, the 2-hour minimum, availability and approved days off. When the week is ready, Publish and send emails each person their own shifts and a private link. What it does: - Forecast sales on top: With Square connected, each future day shows a forecast: the average of the last 4 same weekdays that had sales (it needs at least 2). Past days show actual sales; today shows sold so far when that is higher. - Labour cost and labour % live: Scheduled hours, labour cost (including overtime and stat holiday pay) and labour % of forecast, per day and for the week. The % turns amber or red against your target (30% by default, editable). - Rule checks as you build: Daily overtime after 8 hours (double time after 12), weekly overtime after 40, under 8 hours between shifts, working all 7 days (no 32-hour weekly rest), shifts under the 2-hour minimum, and shifts over a person's own preferred hours. - Availability and days off: Shifts on a day someone marked unavailable, outside their part-day window, or on an approved day off are flagged as critical. Pending requests show as a warning. - Coverage checks: Every half hour the venue is open: nobody on the floor, no cook during kitchen hours, nobody with keys at opening or closing, no barista, only one person on the floor over lunch, or more people than the floor needs. - Plan this week: A rule-based starting point: it copies last week, drops shifts on closed days and hands shifts of people who are off to the free person in the same role with the fewest hours. It explains every change and saves nothing until you confirm. - Publish and send: Saves the week and emails each selected person their own shifts, your note and their private link. If the week changes after sending, Send update goes out to the people affected, without duplicates. - Requests in one place: Day-off requests (sick, vacation, unpaid or other) wait in the Requests panel with Approve and Decline, and also show on the Morning screen. - More than one location: Shifts and approved days off at your other locations show up, so a person isn't booked in two places, and hours add up for overtime when the locations are one employer. - On a phone: The schedule switches to one day at a time with a timeline bar per shift and a half-hour coverage strip. How it works: 1. Bring your team in from Square (names, jobs and wages) or add people by hand, with role, wage, keys and availability. 2. Open next week. Forecast sales sit on top of each day; tap Plan this week for a starting point, or drag and click shifts in. 3. Watch labour % and the checks as you go. Fix anything red: an overtime day, a close followed by an open, a gap at opening with no keyholder. 4. Tap Publish and send. Each person gets an email with their shifts and a private link that always shows the current week. 5. Approve or decline day-off requests as they come in; changed weeks go out with Send update. BC and Canada: - The rule thresholds are BC Employment Standards defaults: overtime after 8 hours a day and 40 a week, double time after 12, 8 hours off between shifts, 32 hours off in a row each week, and a 2-hour minimum. Owners can edit them in Settings. - Stat holiday calendars are built in for all 13 provinces and territories, and stat days are costed at time-and-a-half in labour cost. - Outside BC, Settings asks you to check the rule thresholds against your province's employment standards, because the defaults are BC's. - Pay shown in the schedule is an estimate for planning, not payroll. What it doesn't do: - No time clock or timecards, and no payroll. - No shift swaps between staff, and no open shifts to claim. - No saved schedule templates (Plan this week copies last week instead). - Shift roles are Manager, Barista, Kitchen and Front; there are no custom stations. - It doesn't check meal breaks or the 12-hour limit on split shifts; plan those yourself. - Schedules go out by email and the staff link, not by text message. - The forecast uses your Square sales history; it doesn't use weather or events yet. Q: Does Tasti Desk check BC overtime rules in the schedule? A: Yes. As you build the week it flags daily overtime (over 8 hours, double time over 12), weekly overtime (over 40 hours), less than 8 hours between shifts, no 32-hour weekly rest, and shifts under the 2-hour minimum. The thresholds are BC defaults that the owner can edit. Q: Where does the sales forecast come from? A: From your Square sales: each future day is the average of the last 4 same weekdays that had sales, and it needs at least 2 of them. Without a connected POS the schedule still works, just without forecast and labour %. Q: How do staff see their schedule? A: Publish and send emails each person their shifts and a private link. The link shows their published shifts for this week and next, with who they work with. No app or password. Q: Does it include stat holiday pay in labour cost? A: Yes. Hours on a stat holiday are costed at time-and-a-half. It's a planning estimate and treats everyone as eligible; your payroll decides the real amount. Q: Can staff swap shifts? A: Not in Desk today. Staff can ask for days off and update their availability from their link; the manager moves shifts. Q: Does it work for more than one location? A: Yes. Each location has its own schedule, and shifts or approved days off at your other locations show up so nobody is double-booked. ### Team, certificates and private staff links URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/team Tasti Desk keeps your team in one list: role, wage, keys, availability, locations and certificates for each person. Every staff member can have a private link (no app, no password) to see their shifts, ask for days off, set their availability and fill in an assigned stock count. Owners invite managers and choose exactly which areas each one sees; staff never see wages, sales or money. What it does: - People in one list: Name, shift role, hourly wage, max hours, email, phone, start date, whether they hold keys, availability per weekday and which locations they work at. Wage and role can differ per location. Removed people can be restored. - Import from Square: Preview your Square team members, then add new ones or link matches by name or email. Name, email, phone, job and wage come across. - Certificates: FoodSafe Level 1 and 2, Serving It Right and First Aid, each with an expiry date and the uploaded document. You set which roles need which certificate (FoodSafe for Manager, Barista and Kitchen by default). - Expiry warnings: Certificates expiring within 45 days, expired or missing show on the Team screen and in the morning note. Avo can draft a renewal reminder email to the person, which goes out only after you confirm. - FoodSafe on every shift: A daily check that someone on shift holds a valid FoodSafe certificate, and a printable certificates binder for inspections. - Private staff links: Each person's link shows their published shifts for this week and next with who they work with, notes from the manager, their day-off requests and leave balances. Links can be revoked and regenerated. - Requests from staff: Staff ask for a day off up to 180 days ahead (sick, vacation, unpaid or other) and keep their availability up to date. Managers get notified and approve or decline in Desk. - Leave records: Log time off and see it against simplified BC entitlements: 5 paid sick days after 90 days, 2 weeks' vacation after a year and 3 after 5 years. Records only, not payroll. - Owners, managers and supervisors: Owners invite people by email and pick the locations. A manager can be limited to any of schedule, team, menu, stock, money and sales; a manager limited to the schedule works as a supervisor. The database enforces it. How it works: 1. Import your team from Square, or add each person with role, wage and availability. 2. Add certificates with expiry dates and upload the documents; set which roles need FoodSafe. 3. Send each person their private link by email from Desk. 4. Invite managers or supervisors and choose which areas and locations they can see. BC and Canada: - Certificate types follow BC food and liquor service: FoodSafe Level 1 and 2 and Serving It Right, plus First Aid. - The FoodSafe-on-shift check is labelled for the BC Food Premises Regulation. - Leave balances use simplified BC Employment Standards entitlements and are labelled as records only. What it doesn't do: - No payroll, T4s or pay stubs. - No automatic certificate reminder emails; Avo drafts one and you confirm it. - Staff links don't show wages, sales or money, and staff can't edit the schedule. Q: Do my staff need to download an app? A: No. Each person gets a private link that opens in any phone browser. It shows their shifts, lets them ask for days off and update availability. No password. Q: Can staff see wages or sales? A: No. Staff only see their own shifts, notes, requests and leave balances, and the database blocks wages, sales and money for staff. Q: Does Desk track FoodSafe expiry? A: Yes. Each certificate has an expiry date; expiring (within 45 days), expired and missing certificates are flagged on Team and in the morning note, and you can print a certificates binder. Q: Can I give a manager limited access? A: Yes. The owner chooses which areas a manager sees (schedule, team, menu, stock, money, sales) and which locations. A schedule-only manager is a supervisor. Q: Can I import my team from Square? A: Yes. Desk previews your Square team members and brings in name, email, phone, job and wage, linking anyone who already exists. ### Supplier bills read line by line, from email or a photo URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/supplier-bills Every Tasti Desk location gets its own bills email address. Forward supplier invoices to it, or upload a PDF or photo, and Desk reads the supplier, invoice number, dates, terms, GST, PST, total and every line with pack size and unit price. It checks the total adds up, catches duplicates, files each line to a bookkeeping category and lists what's due, soonest first. Desk records payments; it never pays anyone. What it does: - Your own bills address: One address per location. Each PDF or image attached to a forwarded email becomes a bill (up to 10 per email); an email with no attachment is read as the bill when it is one. Gmail forwarding is walked through step by step, and Gmail's confirmation code shows up inside Desk. - Upload or photo: Upload several PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP files at once, up to 20 MB each. On a phone that usually means taking a photo of the paper invoice. - Read line by line: Supplier, invoice number, invoice and due dates, payment terms, GST, PST, deposits and delivery charges, total and amount due. Each line gets its description, item code, pack size, quantity, unit (kg, L or each) and line total. - Checks on every bill: Lines plus tax that don't match the total, the same invoice sent twice, partly paid bills, missing pack sizes, statements and credit notes, and new suppliers are flagged for a look. - Bookkeeping categories: Each line is filed as Food, Beverage, Alcohol, Packaging or one of the operating categories. Correct one and the same supplier's item keeps your category next time. - What's due: Due dates come from the bill or the supplier's terms. To pay shows due and late bills; Mark paid records the date, method (EFT, e-Transfer, cheque, card, cash, auto-pay) and a reference. Suppliers paid by card or cash are filed as paid. - Approval limit: Owners can set an amount above which only the owner can mark a bill paid. - Matched to your orders: An invoice dated within 4 days of an order placed in Stock is compared line by line, and short or missing items are flagged. - Suppliers built for you: Suppliers are created from their bills, with sender emails, terms, payment method, contact, delivery days and how they take orders. How it works: 1. Copy your location's bills address from Money and forward a supplier email to it, or set a forwarding rule in Gmail. 2. Or tap Upload and choose the PDF or take a photo of a paper bill. 3. Desk reads it in seconds. Anything that needs a look shows as Check this; the rest goes to To pay. 4. Pay your supplier the way you always do, then tap Mark paid so the record stays straight. BC and Canada: - Bills are read for Canadian invoices: GST and PST are pulled out separately, amounts are in CAD. - Reports total GST and PST for your bookkeeper over any date range. - Bill files and data are stored in Canada (Montréal). What it doesn't do: - Desk never pays bills or moves money; it records what you paid. - No QuickBooks or Xero connection today; you get a CSV of bills and a full export instead. - No bank feed. - The AI can misread a smudged photo; bills that don't add up are flagged for you to check. Q: How do supplier invoices get into Tasti Desk? A: Forward the email to your location's own bills address, or upload a PDF or photo. Each attachment becomes a bill. Q: Does Desk pay my suppliers? A: No. It keeps track of what's due and records what you paid. Paying stays with you. Q: Does it read GST and PST? A: Yes. GST and PST are read separately from each bill, and Reports totals them for any date range. Q: What if a supplier sends the same invoice twice? A: Desk flags a duplicate when the supplier and invoice number match, or the supplier, date and total match. Q: Does it connect to QuickBooks or Xero? A: Not today. You can download bills as a CSV from Reports, and the owner can export everything as one ZIP of CSV files. Q: Who can see bills? A: Owners always. Managers only if the owner gives them the Money area. Staff never. ### Supplier price rise alerts for restaurants and cafés URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/price-alerts Tasti Desk compares each item on your supplier bills with what you paid for it before, per kg, litre or each, over the last 6 months. When an item has gone up by 3% or more it shows on the Prices tab, ranked by what the rise costs you a month at your current buying rate. If the item is in a recipe, Avo shows what it does per serve and suggests a menu price that keeps your margin, which you confirm or dismiss. What it does: - Like for like: Prices are compared per base unit (kg, L or each), so a change of pack size doesn't hide a rise. An item needs at least two purchases with a known pack size. - What it costs a month: Each rise is multiplied by how much of it you've been buying recently, so the list starts with the rises that matter most. - Per serve: For items in your recipes, the menu shows what the new price does to each dish's cost and food cost %. - Avo's suggestion: When an ingredient rise adds 10 cents or more to a serve, Avo offers two options: the smallest price rise that keeps your margin in dollars, or the price that keeps your food cost %. Nothing changes until you confirm. - In the morning note: New supplier price rises are listed under Needs you today. How it works: 1. Forward or upload your bills as usual (see supplier bills). 2. Open Money, then Prices: rises of 3% or more, biggest monthly impact first. 3. Open the menu to see the dishes that use the item and Avo's suggested price. 4. Confirm the price change, dismiss it, or call the supplier. BC and Canada: - Prices are compared in CAD before tax, from your own Canadian supplier bills. What it doesn't do: - It needs your bills: items you don't forward or upload can't be compared. - A changed menu price goes to Square only if the owner turned on menu changes in Square, and only after you confirm. Q: How does Tasti Desk spot a supplier price increase? A: It compares the price per kg, litre or each on your latest bill with what you paid for that item before (last 6 months) and shows changes of 3% or more. Q: Will it change my menu prices automatically? A: No. Avo suggests a price; nothing changes until you tap Confirm. Q: What if the supplier changes the pack size? A: Desk compares per base unit, so a smaller case at the same price shows as a rise. ### Recipe costing and food cost from your real supplier bills URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/food-cost In Tasti Desk, ingredients are created from your supplier bills and priced from the latest one, so each recipe's cost follows real prices. Every dish and drink shows its cost per serve, food cost % against your target (30% by default, or per category) and a suggested price (cost divided by target, rounded up to the next 25 cents). When a dish drifts over target or an ingredient goes up, Avo proposes a new price or a portion trim, and you confirm. What it does: - Ingredients from bills: Food, beverage, alcohol and packaging lines with a kg, L or each unit become ingredients automatically, priced from the latest real bill (with a manual price if there's no bill yet). - Recipes per size: One recipe per variation (for example Latte, large): each ingredient and quantity per serve, plus a pantry amount for salt, oil and garnish. - Avo drafts recipes: Avo can draft a recipe from the dish name and description using only your own ingredients; you edit it before saving. - Target and suggested price: A target food cost for the menu and optional targets per category. The suggested price is cost divided by target, rounded up to the next $0.25. - What's drifting: Dishes over target by more than a point, and dishes whose cost went up 10 cents or more per serve, come with Avo's options: keep the margin, keep the food cost %, or trim the biggest ingredient. - Menu engineering: Stars, Plowhorses, Puzzles and Dogs from your Square item sales and margins, so you know what to promote, reprice or drop. - Shared recipes: Recipes are shared across your locations and costed at each location's own prices. - Dish lifecycle: Draft, scheduled from a date, live, or off with its recipe and history kept. Each dish keeps a change history. How it works: 1. Forward a few weeks of supplier bills so ingredients and prices fill in. 2. Open a dish (from Square or added in Desk) and add its ingredients, or let Avo draft them. 3. Set your target food cost and check the dishes over it. 4. Confirm or dismiss Avo's price suggestions as supplier prices change. BC and Canada: - Prices in CAD, before tax, from your own suppliers' bills. What it doesn't do: - No sub-recipes or batch recipes: recipe lines point to ingredients. - Menu engineering and usage need sales by item, which come from Square today. - Price changes are written to Square only if the owner turns on menu changes, and only after you confirm. Q: How does Tasti Desk calculate food cost? A: Cost per serve is the sum of each ingredient's quantity times its latest price from your bills, plus the pantry amount. Food cost % is that cost divided by the menu price. Q: What is the suggested price? A: Cost per serve divided by your target food cost, rounded up to the next 25 cents. Q: Do I have to type in ingredient prices? A: No. Ingredients and their prices come from the supplier bills you forward. You can set a manual price for anything without a bill. Q: Does it support sub-recipes? A: Not today. Each recipe line is an ingredient; use the pantry amount for small shared items. ### Online menu, website embed and printed menus that stay in sync URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/online-menu Tasti Desk can publish your menu online at its own link, with a QR code to download, and you can embed the same menu on your website with one line of code. It shows today's hours, sections, sizes, prices, an Our pick and Sold out today, and you can add a short banner for guests that Avo drafts. Printed food and drink menus come from the same data, and Desk tells you when the paper menu is out of date. What it does: - Online menu: Off until you turn it on. Logo, name, today's hours, address, a note, sections with live dishes, descriptions, sizes and prices, Our pick and Sold out today. Prices in CAD, taxes extra. - QR code and link: Download the QR code as PNG or SVG for tables and windows, or copy the link. - Website embed: Paste one line on Squarespace, Wix, WordPress or Shopify and the menu appears and resizes itself. A public menu.json is there for developers. - Sold out today: Mark a dish sold out and it shows on the online menu right away; it resets the next day. - Tell your guests: Write one sentence, Avo drafts a banner, you set a show-until date and publish. It shows on the online menu and the embed. - Your look: Desk's plain design or a printed-menu style (classic, minimal, board, café), or one read from a photo of your own menu. - Printed menus: Food and drink menus to print, with a template, title and footer. Mark printed, and later changes are flagged for the next reprint. - Scan your paper menu: Photos or a PDF of your current menu are compared with Desk and Square: what matches, what differs, and descriptions to copy in. How it works: 1. Open Menu, then Online, and turn the online menu on. 2. Pick the design, hide any categories you don't want online, and download the QR code. 3. To put it on your site, copy the embed line into your website builder. 4. During service, mark items sold out; post a banner when you have news. BC and Canada: - Prices show in CAD with taxes extra, as Canadian menus usually do. What it doesn't do: - No online ordering or payments; it is a menu, not a store. - Sold out shows on Desk's online menu only; mark it on your Square register too. - No posting to Instagram, Facebook or Google. Q: Can I put my Tasti Desk menu on my website? A: Yes. Paste the embed line on Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Shopify or any site; the menu loads and resizes itself. Q: Does sold out update on the website? A: Yes, on Desk's online menu and the embed, right away. It resets the next day. Q: Can guests order from it? A: No. It's a menu to read, with no ordering or payment. ### Stock counts, what runs out before delivery, and order lists URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/inventory Tasti Desk counts stock in your walking order (walk-in, freezer, dry storage, bar), on a phone or on a printed sheet. Between counts it works out expected on hand from your last count, what you bought on bills, what recipes used against Square sales and logged waste. It flags what will run out before the supplier's next delivery, shows what went missing between two counts in dollars, and builds an order per supplier for you to send. What it does: - Counts in walking order: Areas such as walk-in cooler, freezer, dry storage and bar, in the order you walk them. Items are counted in packs or in kg, L or each. Lines save as you type. - Full or quick counts: A full count, or a partial count of the items that make up 80% of stock value plus anything that went missing last time. - Count on a phone: Assign a count to a staff member and it opens on their staff link as a blind count: names and units only, no prices or expected numbers. - Paper too: Print a count sheet by area, or take a photo of a handwritten sheet and Desk reads it into the count. - Expected on hand: Last count plus what you bought on bills, minus what recipes used against sales, minus logged waste. - Runs out before delivery: Flagged when days left is fewer than days to the supplier's next delivery you can still order for, with delivery days, cutoffs and stat holidays taken into account. - What went missing: Between two full counts: used minus what recipes and waste explain, valued at current prices, with the biggest gap and food cost % for the period. - Waste log: Spoiled, dropped, staff meal, comp or returned. Photograph the paper waste sheet and confirm the lines. - Order lists: One draft per supplier: packs to order from use per day, days to the delivery after next and 2 safety days, minus what's on hand and already ordered. Adjust with big plus and minus buttons. - Count plan: Set how often you count; Desk can put the count on the schedule as a paid task and remind the counter by email. How it works: 1. Set up your areas in walking order and add items (or let them come from your bills). 2. Do a first full count: on a phone, by a staff member on their link, or on a printed sheet. 3. From then on, check What to order before each supplier's cutoff and place the order your usual way. 4. Count again; Missing shows what bills, recipes and waste don't explain. BC and Canada: - Stat holidays in your province move delivery days in the order math. What it doesn't do: - Desk doesn't send orders to suppliers: it drafts the email, copies the item codes or the text, and you send it. - No fixed par levels; order amounts come from your usage. - Expected on hand and missing need a first count, recipes and sales by item (from Square) to be useful. Q: Can staff count stock on their phone? A: Yes. Assign the count and it opens on their private staff link as a blind count, with no prices or expected numbers. Q: Does Tasti Desk send orders to my suppliers? A: No. It builds the order and gives you a drafted email, the item codes or a text to copy. You send it. Q: How does it know what went missing? A: Between two full counts it compares what was used with what recipes, sales and logged waste explain, and values the gap at current prices. Q: Does it use par levels? A: No. Order amounts come from how fast you use each item and when the next deliveries are. ### Avo: an AI assistant for your restaurant that asks before it changes anything URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/avo-ai-assistant Avo is the AI assistant inside Tasti Desk. It reads your venue's sales, schedule, labour, bills, menu costs, stock, suppliers, the weather forecast and upcoming stat holidays, and answers questions in plain words. It can propose 12 kinds of change, such as a menu price, sold out, approving a day off, adding a shift or adding to a supplier order, but nothing changes until you tap Confirm. The owner chooses what Avo can read. What it does: - Reads your venue: Last 8 weeks of sales, this and next week's schedule and labour cost, open bills, this and last month's food cost %, labour % and profit, menu dishes with cost, stock, suppliers and delivery cutoffs, waste, pending day-off requests, expiring certificates, the Environment Canada forecast and stat holidays in the next 45 days. - Looks things up: Sales by day, week, month, weekday or hour, item sales, bills and price history, up to two years back. - Proposes, you confirm: Price change, sold out or back on, approve or decline a day off, mark a bill paid, banner for guests, certificate reminder, note to the team, add or remove a shift, add to a supplier order, log waste, remember a fact. - Checks its own work: After you confirm, Desk applies the change and reads it back to make sure it landed. - Learns your preferences: Thumbs up or down with a note, a memory you can see and edit, and it won't re-propose something you dismissed in the last 14 days. - Across locations: With more than one location, Avo sees a side-by-side summary of all of them. - In your language: Avo answers in the language you write in. How it works: 1. Open Avo and ask, for example: How did last week compare to the week before? 2. Avo answers from your own data and shows any change it suggests as a card. 3. Tap Confirm to apply it, or dismiss it. 4. In Settings, the owner switches off anything Avo shouldn't read: sales, schedule and team, wages, money, menu or stock. BC and Canada: - Avo knows your province's stat holidays and uses the Environment and Climate Change Canada forecast for your city. - Your data stays stored in Canada; Avo's AI provider, Anthropic, doesn't use it to train models. What it doesn't do: - Avo never changes anything on its own and never places supplier orders. - There's a monthly AI allowance per venue, shown as a percentage. Near the end Avo gives shorter answers; at 100% chat pauses until the 1st (bill reading keeps working). - Avo's answers are suggestions, not legal, tax or payroll advice. Q: Can Avo change things without asking? A: No. Every change is a proposal; nothing happens until you tap Confirm. Q: Which AI does Avo use? A: Anthropic's Claude models. Only the data needed for the answer is sent, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models. Q: Can I limit what Avo sees? A: Yes. The owner can switch off sales, schedule and team, wages, money, menu or stock in Settings. Managers' own access limits apply too. Q: Can staff use Avo? A: No. Avo is for owners and managers. Q: Is there a limit on questions? A: There's a monthly AI allowance per venue, shown as a percentage in Settings. It covers normal daily use. ### The morning note: yesterday, today and what needs you URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/morning-note Every morning, at a time each person picks (7:00 by default), Tasti Desk sends a short note written by Avo: yesterday's sales against forecast, labour % and orders, today's forecast and who's on, and a list of what needs you today, such as an overdue bill, a schedule gap, a day-off request, an item that runs out before delivery, a supplier price rise or an expiring certificate. It arrives by email, by text if you add a phone number, and on the Morning screen, where each item has a one-tap action. What it does: - Yesterday: Sales against a usual day, labour %, orders, average ticket, busiest hour and top sellers (from Square). - Today: Forecast sales and who's on, and the weather when it changes the day. - Needs you today: Overdue bills (Mark paid), schedule gaps, day-off requests, next week not planned or not sent, stat day pay, items running out before delivery, supplier order cutoffs, a stock count due, menu price suggestions, expiring certificates, supplier price rises and Avo proposals waiting. - Avo's note: Two to four sentences that pull it together, in plain words. - Your channel, your time: Email by default, a text message if you add a phone number, and the Morning screen. Each person picks the time; it's never sent after noon. - Right for each role: Managers who aren't allowed to see money or sales get a version without them. How it works: 1. Open Morning and pick the time you want the note. 2. Add a phone number if you'd like it by text as well. 3. Each morning, read the note and clear the list from Morning with one tap per item. BC and Canada: - Weather comes from Environment and Climate Change Canada for your nearest city; stat holidays follow your province. What it doesn't do: - Sales, forecast and top sellers need a connected POS (Square today). - Text messages are for owners and managers, to North American numbers. Q: When does the morning note arrive? A: At the time each person picks on the Morning screen, 7:00 venue time by default. It's never sent after noon. Q: Can I get it by text message? A: Yes. Add your phone number and the note comes by text as well as email. Q: What's in it? A: Yesterday's sales, labour and orders, today's forecast and who's on, bills due, and a short list of what needs you, with Avo's summary. ### Run up to five locations side by side URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/multi-location Tasti Desk runs 1 to 5 locations under one business, one plan and one bill, priced per location. The All locations view compares sales, change against the previous period, orders, average ticket, labour %, food and drink cost %, prime cost % and what's left after costs, with the location to look at highlighted. Recipes and people are shared across locations, and each location keeps its own schedule, bills address, stock and menu prices. What it does: - Side by side: Sales, vs before, orders, average ticket, labour %, food and drink cost %, prime cost % and after costs per location, with totals worked out from the sums, not averaged. - Any period: Last 7 days, this week, last week, this month or last month. Download as CSV. - Shared recipes and people: A recipe is written once and costed at each location's own prices. A person can work at several locations with a different role or wage at each. - No double-booking: Shifts and days off at other locations show in each schedule, and hours add up for overtime when the locations are one employer. - Area managers: Managers of more than one location see the comparison too, with money columns only if they're allowed money. - Each location its own: Its own Square location, bills address, schedule, stock, menu prices and online menu. How it works: 1. Add a location in Settings and connect it to its Square location. 2. Give it its own bills address and opening hours, and choose who works there. 3. Open All locations to compare them for any period. BC and Canada: - Each location has its own address and province, so stat holidays and time zones follow where it is. What it doesn't do: - Up to 5 locations on the Desk plan. Larger groups: Tasti.io builds custom systems (tasti.io). - Labour % uses scheduled wages, before overtime adjustments and employer costs. Q: How many locations can Tasti Desk handle? A: Up to five on one business, priced per location. Q: Is the price per location? A: Yes. $149 CAD per location a month, or $1,490 a year, on one bill. Q: Can staff work at more than one location? A: Yes, with a different role or wage at each, and their shifts at other locations show up so they aren't double-booked. ### Reports, prime cost, GST and PST totals, and a full export URL: https://desk.tasti.io/features/reports-and-export Tasti Desk's Reports tab gives a simple management P&L for any date range: sales from your POS, food and drink cost % by category, labour % from scheduled wages, operating costs by category, what's left over, prime cost %, and GST and PST totals for your bookkeeper. You can download bills as a CSV, and the owner can export everything Desk holds as one ZIP of CSV files at any time. What it does: - Management P&L: Sales, food and drink (cost of goods) % by category, labour %, operating costs by category and what's left over, for any date range. - Prime cost: Food and drink cost plus labour as a share of sales, with a note on the range most independents aim for. - For your bookkeeper: GST and PST totals, and bills as a CSV with date, supplier, bill number, total, GST, PST and status. - Export everything: The owner downloads one ZIP with a CSV per table (people, schedules, bills and lines, recipes, stock, sales and more) plus a README. Secrets are never exported. - Activity log: A read-only history of who changed what and when, in Settings. - What Desk saved you: A running estimate of overtime avoided, duplicate bills caught, price rises passed on and admin time, with estimates marked as estimates. How it works: 1. Open Money, then Reports, and pick the date range. 2. Download the bills CSV for your bookkeeper. 3. For everything, the owner goes to Settings, Data and security, Export everything. BC and Canada: - GST and PST are reported separately, as BC bookkeeping needs. What it doesn't do: - Not a replacement for your accountant's financial statements. - No QuickBooks or Xero connection; exports are CSV. - Labour % uses scheduled wages, before overtime adjustments and employer costs. Q: Can I export my data? A: Yes. The owner can export everything as one ZIP of CSV files at any time, and Reports has a bills CSV for any date range. Q: Does it show prime cost? A: Yes. Reports and the All locations view show prime cost % (food and drink cost plus labour, as a share of sales). Q: Does it replace my bookkeeper? A: No. It gives your bookkeeper clean bills, categories and GST/PST totals. ## Pricing - Monthly: $149 CAD per location per month, plus tax. No contract; cancel any time in Settings, access continues to the end of the paid period. - Yearly: $1,490 CAD per location per year, plus tax (two months free compared with monthly). - Free trial: 30 days, no card. If no plan is chosen, Desk pauses (only Settings opens); data is kept. - Founding 20: the first 20 venues in Vancouver pay $99 CAD per location a month, for as long as they stay subscribed. - Every feature included, unlimited staff, no per-user fees. 1 to 5 locations per business on one bill. - Not included: payroll, time clock, timecards, tip pooling, bill payment, POS or online ordering, accounting software sync. - Details: https://desk.tasti.io/pricing ## Getting started 1. Name your venue: name, address and province. The province sets stat holidays. 2. Connect your POS: Square takes about 3 minutes; menu and up to a year of sales come in by themselves. Other POS (Toast, Lightspeed, Clover, TouchBistro and others): the founder builds the connection on request. 3. Bring in your team: pull people from Square with jobs and wages, then check opening hours. 4. Forward your first bill to the location's own bills address, or upload a photo. ## FAQ ### Price and trial Q: How much does Tasti Desk cost? A: $149 CAD per location a month, or $1,490 CAD per location a year, plus applicable tax. Everything is in one plan; there are no add-ons or per-user fees. Q: Is there a free trial? A: Yes. Every new venue gets 30 days free, with no card needed. If you add a card during the trial, the first charge is on the day the trial ends. Q: What happens when the trial ends? A: If you haven't chosen a plan, Desk pauses: only Settings opens until you pick monthly or yearly. Nothing you entered is deleted. Q: What is the Founding 20? A: The first 20 venues in Vancouver pay $99 CAD a month per location, for as long as they stay. Ask the founder when you sign up. Q: Is there a contract? A: No contract on monthly. Plans renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel any time from Settings; you keep access to the end of the period you paid for. Q: Are there refunds? A: Partial periods aren't refunded, except where the law requires it. The 30-day trial is there so you can try Desk on your own numbers first. Q: Do I pay per user? A: No. The price is per location. Add as many staff, managers and supervisors as you need. ### Setup and POS Q: How long does setup take? A: About 15 minutes: name the venue and pick the province, connect your POS, bring in your team, and forward your first supplier bill. Q: Which POS systems does it work with? A: Square connects in a few minutes and brings in sales, menu and team. On another POS (Toast, Lightspeed, Clover, TouchBistro or others), the founder builds the connection on request; schedule, team, bills, menu and stock work in the meantime. Q: What does Desk read from Square? A: Your business and locations, completed orders (kept as hourly and per-item totals, not receipts or card details), menu items and prices, and team members with their jobs and wages. It refreshes several times a day and brings in up to a year of history at the start. Q: Does Desk change anything in Square? A: Only if the owner turns on menu changes, and then only after you confirm each one (for example a new price). It never charges or refunds anything. Q: Can I use Desk without a POS connection? A: Yes. Schedule, team, bills, recipes, stock and the online menu all work. Sales, forecast and labour % need sales data from a POS. Q: Can I try it without signing up? A: Yes. The demo café opens with no account; it resets every night and never sends anything. ### Schedule and staff Q: Does it follow BC employment rules? A: The schedule checks BC Employment Standards defaults as you build it: daily overtime over 8 hours (double over 12), weekly overtime over 40, 8 hours off between shifts, 32 hours off in a row each week and the 2-hour minimum. It's a planning aid, not legal or payroll advice. Q: What about other provinces? A: Desk works across Canada and has stat holiday calendars for all 13 provinces and territories. The overtime and rest thresholds default to BC's; outside BC, the owner checks and edits them in Settings. Q: Do my staff need an app or a password? A: No. Each person gets a private link that opens in any browser: their shifts for this week and next, day-off requests, availability and leave balances. Q: Can staff see wages or sales? A: No. Staff only see their own shifts, notes and requests. Wages, sales and money are blocked for staff in the database itself. Q: Does Desk do payroll, timecards or tips? A: No. Desk has no time clock, payroll or tip pooling. Pay in the schedule is a planning estimate, and you can export everything for your payroll provider or bookkeeper. Q: Can managers have limited access? A: Yes. The owner chooses which areas each manager sees (schedule, team, menu, stock, money, sales) and which locations. A schedule-only manager works as a supervisor. Q: How are staff told about the schedule? A: Publish and send emails each person their shifts and their private link. If the week changes, Send update goes to the people affected. ### Bills, costs and stock Q: How do supplier bills get in? A: Each location has its own bills email address: forward supplier emails to it, or upload a PDF or a photo. Desk reads every line, with GST and PST. Q: Does Desk pay my bills or move money? A: No. Desk reads bills, keeps what's due in order and records what you paid. It never moves money. Q: Does it connect to QuickBooks or Xero? A: Not today. Reports gives a bills CSV and GST/PST totals, and the owner can export all data as CSV files. Q: How is food cost worked out? A: Ingredients are priced from your latest supplier bills; each recipe's cost per serve is compared with its menu price and your target food cost (30% by default). Q: Does Desk send orders to suppliers? A: No. It builds an order per supplier from your usage and delivery days, then gives you a drafted email, the item codes or a text to copy. You send it. ### Avo and AI Q: What is Avo? A: The AI assistant inside Desk. It reads your sales, schedule, bills, recipes and stock, writes the morning note, answers questions and proposes changes. Q: Will Avo change anything on its own? A: No. Avo can propose a price change, approve a day off or add a shift, but nothing changes until you tap Confirm. Q: Which AI provider does Desk use, and is my data used for training? A: Anthropic. Only the data needed for a task is sent, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models. Q: Can I control what Avo reads? A: Yes. The owner can switch off sales, schedule and team, wages, money, menu or stock for Avo in Settings. ### Data and security Q: Where is my data stored? A: In Canada, in the Montréal region (Supabase). The app is served by Vercel, which may process requests in the United States without storing your data there. The Privacy Policy lists every service that processes data. Q: Is my data shared or sold? A: Never sold, never shown to other venues. Each venue's records are separated in the database itself, and that separation is tested. Q: Can I export my data? A: Yes. The owner can download everything as one ZIP of CSV files at any time from Settings. Q: What happens to my data if I cancel? A: If you close your account, your venue's data is deleted within 30 days, except billing records kept for tax (usually up to 7 years); backups roll off within a further 30 days. Q: Which privacy laws does Desk follow? A: Canada's PIPEDA and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act. The Privacy Officer is the founder, at hello@tasti.io. ### Devices, locations and support Q: Does it work on a phone? A: Yes. Desk is a web app built for phone browsers as well as computers, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens full screen like an app. Q: How many locations can I run? A: One to five on the Desk plan, each priced per location, compared side by side. For larger groups, Tasti.io builds custom systems. Q: Who is behind Tasti Desk? A: Tasti.io, based in Burnaby, BC. Founder Yuriy Romanyuk is a former restaurant operator in Vancouver. Q: How do I get help? A: Email yuriy@tasti.io or call 778 956 4251. Inside Desk, Report a problem goes straight to the founder. ## Good fit / not a fit - Good fit: an owner-run café, coffee shop, restaurant, bar, bakery, dessert, ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt or bubble tea shop with 1 to 5 locations that wants scheduling, bills, food cost and stock in one place, especially in BC. - Not a fit: groups with more than 5 locations (Tasti.io builds custom systems for those, see https://tasti.io), or anyone who needs payroll, a time clock, shift swaps, tip pooling or bill payment inside the tool. ## Main pages - [Your back office.
